Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager-Chattanooga, TN

The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 10 years of demonstrated consulting experience in the following areas:

  • Management of a small project office or large project teams on large scale projects
  • Demonstrated experience as a Seller/Doer/ Client manager for clients in the utilities, mining, or manufacturing industries including relationships with state and federal regulators
  • Experience managing and performing geotechnical and geological engineering analysis projects and design on environmental remediation and coal ash projects.

REQUIREMENTS

M.S. degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical emphasis required

Senior Remediation Engineer/Scientist-Florida

Ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of demonstrated experience in environmental consulting plus the following skills and abilities:

This  is the third article in this Green Certifications series. People with the following certifications play key roles in infrastructure asset management, environmental cleanup, energy efficiency and green building design. My advice to professionals and job seekers is the talk to someone who has the certification, go to their meetings and research the benefits of the certification to find out if they fit with your long term goals.

  1. Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP): GIS professionals create 2D and 3D maps digital maps based on geographic, demographic and topographic data which companies and consultants use to  map their infrastructure assets (pipelines, sewers, bridges, sensor networks and other infrastructure) and make strategic decisions on new routes and construction. For instance, a county highway with 3 bridges needs to be widened to handle larger traffic volumes.   2. Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner (CHMP): The BP oil gave America a crash course in environmental emergency response. Thousands of cleanup workers were trained and mobilized to deal with spilled oil on land and sea. Certified Hazardous Material Practitioners are technicians who protect the public by safely assessing, cleaning up and transporting hazardous materials like chemicals, medical and radioactive waste on a regular basis.  This is not a profession for the faint of heart but  for those with a heart to protect people and the environment. Click here
  3. HVAC Technician: The recession has forced commercial real estate owners to monitor to look for more energy efficient HVAC systems to cut costs and improve indoor quality. HVAC technicians will have to install, program and maintain these advanced HVAC systems on a regular basis especially systems that run on alternative energy.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design):This certification  now comes in several different forms depending on a person’s profession and level of involvement in the green building development process. Ideal candidate will have at least 5- 10 years of demonstrated experience in engineering consulting plus the following skills and abilities:

  • Ability to support of excavation (SOE) design, specialty foundation design, and traditional geotechnical engineering.
  • Demonstrate solid design capabilities and familiarity with software such as Plaxis, Slope/W, Seep/W, Sigma/W, MathCAD, AutoCAD and Excel.
  • Assist other teams with the preparation of proposals and presentations.
