Disaster Emergency Response Trained People Needed
Over the last few years (and few weeks), we have had a number of major man-made and natural disasters that have caused major property damage and loss of life. These events have inspired thousands of people to volunteer to help in the rescue, recovery and reconstruction efforts. One of the questions that has come up in my discussions about these disasters with job seekers is:
“How can I become a trained disaster emergency responder? ”
Community Emergency Response Team Training Is Available
After doing some research, I found a federal government sponsored program called CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) which trains ordinary citizens in disaster response and recovery. It is not the same level of training that our professional emergency responders get but it does empower citizens with the ability to be more effective.
