Project Manager/Wastewater InfrastructureTechnical

Hinton Human Capital, an emerging leader in climate change, environmental and engineering search is currently seeking  2 experienced engineers to lead stimulus and consent decree related water/wastewater infrastructure projects for an established national engineering consulting firm. The ideal candidates will have the following abilities, skills and experiences:

  • At  least 7-10 years of experience managing design on large diameter wastewater pipeline rehabilitation and pump station projects.
  • Ability to lead mid level design staff in production of plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering is required.
  • Must able to obtain PE license in VA/DC/MD

The ideal candidate will have the following abilities, skills and experiences:

  • At least 5-10 years of experience managing design on wastewater treatment facilities projects.
  • Ability to lead mid level design staff in production of plans and specifications.
  •  Experience working on enhanced nutrient removal technology  projects is a strong plus

Requirements

  • BS in Environmental or Civil Engineering required
  • MS is preferred
  • PE in DC/VA/MD is strong plus

Project Manager/Water Treatment Facilities

Hinton Human Capital, an emerging leader in climate change, environmental and engineering search is currently seeking an experienced engineer to lead Water Treatment facilities projects for an established engineering consulting firm. The ideal candidate will have the following abilities, skills and experiences:

  • At least 5-10 years of experience managing design on potable water treatment facilities projects.
  • Experience with large capacity facilities in urban areas is a strong plus.
  • Ability to lead mid level design staff in production of plans and specifications.
  •  Experience working with different disinfection technologies such as Reverse Osmosis and UV is a strong plus

Requirements

  • BS in Environmental or Civil Engineering required
  • MS is preferred
  • PE in DC/VA/MD is strong plus

Brace Yourself for a Bumpy (Job Market) Ride

After listening to the Obama Infrastructure plan, I was excited like everyone else. However after studying  the speech carefully some serious questions came to mind. Here they are:

  1. Who is going to be responsible for retraining the workers for the new “green” jobs? It takes time and money to put together the training curriculum and train the workers. College and Universities will need some reform and stimulus
  2. The last recession featured a “jobless” recovery where the jobs for middle class workers did not manifest until much later. Can people afford to wait?
  3. Environmental permitting and paperwork takes months or years to complete. How  can this bottleneck be handled without drawing too much ire from environmental groups? This could delay jobs and projects into 2010.

There is a growing concern that expectations for the stimulus plan may be too high and there will be thousands of people looking for jobs that maybe delayed until 2010. What do you think?
